This position is located in the Office of Science Policy (OSP), Office of the Director (OD), National Institutes of Health (NIH), U.S. Department of Health and Human Service (DHHS).

Duties

As aSenior Health Science Policy Analyst, your duties will include, but are not limited to the following: Provides advanced expertise to senior OSP leadership, through working closely with senior staff, scientific program directors, and members of the extramural research community to monitor advances and trends in science that are relevant to the mission. Uses expert knowledge of both biomedical/health research and program assessment, provides advanced analytical expertise and leadership in developing, coordinating, performing, and reporting on projects designed to assess progress on funded programs and initiatives. Functions as an authoritative expert in planning, designing, and conducting comprehensive studies and analyses of science policy issues. Serves as an expert and recognized authority on science policy analysis and works collaboratively across the OSP on special initiatives. Leads and participates in Trans-NIH committees focused on exchanging, developing, or disseminating information relevant to NIH policies, procedures, and strategic objectives.

Requirements

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: In order to qualify for Senior Health Science Policy Analyst, GS-0601, position level you must have successfully completed a bachelor's degree or graduate/higher level degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. (This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained). ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: providing guidance to senior management on health science policy issues impacting biosafety and biosecurity; developing policies for effective health science program operations; reviewing protocols and regulations that have an impact on biosafety and biosecurity, identifying trends and emerging Challenges in health science-related areas that could influence research methodologies.
