Duties
Defines data need parameters for specific geospatial projects and/or assignments.
Digitizes geographic information by translating raw land-based data into code.
Designs, develops, and manages geospatial databases, including conversion of digital data in various formats, and the conversion of thematic source maps from analog to digital form through the use of appropriate hardware and software.
Provides technical user support for all aspects of geospatial data and software.
Works with a diverse group of resources specialists, planners, and managers to coordinate and implement geospatial applications and incorporate GIS resource data into a range of local planning documents and processes.
Assists in the integration of Enterprise GIS with long and short term planning and management activities.
Promotes and implements an integrated training program to teach basic and complex skills in the use of geospatial software, data acquisition, retrieval and analysis.

Minimum Qualifications for the GS-0301-09:
Specialized Experience:
You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples:
Managing geospatial databases including project quality control;
Collaborating with others in implementing geospatial applications or data;
Assisting others using on-line geospatial web-mapping programs; and/or
Providing GIS user and technical support to co-workers.
OR
Successfully completed a master's degree or two (2) full years of graduate level study leading to a master's degree or LL.B., J.D., in a related field that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform this work. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement.
OR
Have an equivalent combination of specialized experience and education that, when prorated, combine to meet the qualification requirements for this position.
Minimum Qualifications for the GS-0301-11:
Specialized Experience:
You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples:
Designing/managing geospatial databases including project quality control and/or research;
Collaborating with others in developing and/or implementing geospatial applications or data;
Conducting spatial analysis using on-line geospatial web-mapping programs; and/or
Providing GIS user and technical support to co-workers.
OR
Have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. NOTE: I will provide a copy of my transcripts to support this.
OR
Equivalent combination of specialized experience and education, as described above. NOTE: I will provide a copy of my transcripts to support this.
