The Tennessee Valley Healthcare System is looking for an Electronics Mechanic to join our team in Engineering Service. The primary purpose of the Electronics Mechanic position is to analyze, redesign, modify, install, evaluate, repair, and perform in service training on a wide variety of complex electronic systems and equipment at this facility.

Duties

The duties of the Electronics Mechanic, WG-2604-10 include, but are not limited to: Plan and lay out work to be performed on a specific task such as the ordering of material to install complete satellite TV systems. Install electrical and electronic equipment and systems or components using electric and electronic test equipment. Repair portable electronic equipment. Repair electrical or electronic systems of building service equipment and systems such as but not limited to the C0-2 gas analyzer, combustion analyzer, frequency inverters, fire-eye controller, fans, motors, pumps, chillers and associated equipment. Interpret drawings, specification, schematics, operator and parts manuals, etc. of varying degrees of complexity for complex systems. Maintain computerized control on systems such as fire alarm, burglar alarm equipment, elevator control, and HVAC direct digital controls using HVAC theory and design Prepare electrical diagrams in planning and laying out work. Perform maintenance and preventive maintenance on electronic equipment or systems such as two-way radios, paging, fax machines, fire alarm, alarm, automatic doors and related safety. Identify and replace circuit boards. Troubleshoot complex circuitry and controls associated with such systems as the emergency generators, computerized pneumatic tube system, etc. Troubleshoot complex electric and electronic systems consisting of unusual circuit arrangements and theories. Must have Comprehensive trade knowledge of electrical theory (AC and DC), principles, elements, and systems operations. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/14/2023. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The duties of this position require physical exertion involving, lifting, pulling, pushing, or carrying objects of various weights sizes and shapes. Physical effort exerted is walking, running, climbing, crawling and bending. Strain related to lack of movement such as standing in place, crunching or stooping for extended periods of time. Working Conditions: Lifting, heating, ventilation in the work area: Incumbent is exposed to heat restricted ventilation and poor illumination in areas such as equipment rooms. Weather conditions in which exposed when working outdoors: Incumbent is exposed to all weather conditions when working outside. Temperatures to which exposed in the work area: Incumbent is exposed to varying climatic conditions from an office to environmentally controlled space to excessive heat in the boiler plant. Dust, grease and soiling of clothing and skin surfaces: Incumbent is exposed to various hazardous materials in the course of performing work and is provided protective clothing, equipment and safety devices for protections. Noise and vibration: The emergency generator and equipment rooms are above the allowable decibel rating and hearing protection is provided. Gases and fumes - Diesel fumes and hazardous gases are in the work environment during various task. Respiratory protection is provided for the incumbent Hazards in working above ground level, on slippery surfaces or in crowded areas near moving vehicles or cutting tools: Incumbent is at risk of high voltage electric shock; injury from falls, burns, bruises and cuts.
