THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a WS-3401-11 ALLIED TRADES SUPERVISOR (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D2738000 in SPMD 4740 and is part of the MO TASMG Shop. APPOINTMENT FACTORS: This is an Indefinite/Permanent (may retain current tenure if on-board) Excepted Service position. This is a non-bargaining position. SEE NOTES UNDER CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT BELOW.

Duties

Serves as the technical and administrative supervisor over the machinist and welding functions, exercising full supervisory responsibility over work operations. Plans weekly and monthly work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates. Establishes deadlines and priorities based on general work schedules and methods and polices established by higher levels of supervision. Determines how many assignments can be done concurrently, which ones must be delayed, and the number and types of employees needed, considering skills, personnel, materials, and equipment available and required. Selects workers and assigns tasks to be performed. Explains work requirements, methods, and procedures. Investigates work related problems (e.g., low productivity) to identify causes; implements those corrective actions that can be taken within the limits of incumbent’s authority. Adjusts plans, assignments, and methods as necessary to accomplish the work as effectively and economically as feasible. Determines equipment, supplies, and work required. Recommends and participates in the selection of personnel to fill vacancies. Schedules and approves leave of subordinates. Determines training needs of subordinates and arranges for its accomplishment. Ensures that regulations governing safety and housekeeping are observed. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • If selected individual is in a Permanent status (Tenure 1 or 2) with the Missouri Army National Guard, that individual will retain their Permanent status.
  • If selected individual is in an Indefinite status (Tenure 3) with the Missouri Army National Guard, that individual will retain their Indefinite status.
  • Indefinite employment can be terminated with a 30 day notice.
  • Management has the right to convert this position to permanent status without re-advertising.

Qualifications

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an Excepted Service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Selected candidate will be required to be in a compatible military assignment prior to effective date of placement. Selected candidate must be MOS qualified within 12 months from date of appointment. Maximum Military Grade - SGM (E-9) Enlisted - CMF 15 or 91 Supervisor must verify that selected individual occupies a compatible military position. Technicians will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor or wage leader (grade inversion). GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience or training which demonstrates your ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports. WS-11 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess 36 months of specialized experience which demonstrates your ability to plan and organize work assignments for the allied trades function. The specialized experience must demonstrate your ability to review work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines; knowledge of various lines of work performed by the allied trades function; deal effectively with other people; supervise through subordinate supervisors, or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate, skill at applying human relations techniques, knowledge of general supervisory concepts, knowledge of shop processes; and adapt existing equipment and techniques to new situations.

This job does not have a qualification requirement that allows substitution of education for specialized experience.
