The Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) Nurse Coordinator is responsible for working collaboratively with nursing and interprofessional colleagues on the development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of process improvement and EBP projects. In partnership, the EBP Nurse Coordinator promotes research-related activities, including dissemination of results through internal and external presentations and publications in refereed journals.
Duties
Our team is hiring for an Evidence-Based Practice Coordinator! We are looking for an experienced, creative, and accomplished registered nurse to fill this role. It requires a high-performer who has experience working independently with minimal guidance and is able to make connections throughout the health system and among the academic community to ensure our nurses are immersed in the most up-to-date knowledge. As the EBP Nurse Coordinator you will serve as an expert consultant to mentor nursing staff, nursing leaders, and students in the utilization and dissemination of EBP. You will provide leadership in EBP related to complex health care issues that influence health care and policy development, promoting the VHA mission. You will demonstrate leadership in enhancing group dynamics and facilitating team decision-making to promote practice changes that lead to sustainable outcomes. Duties include:
1. Foster a culture of clinical inquiry to facilitate the integration of research findings with patient values/ preferences to improve the quality and delivery of care.
2. Provide leadership for the development, implementation, and evaluation of EBP arid process improvements, and collaboratively work with the ACNE-Nursing Research/ESP, Nurse Scientist, nurses and inter-professionals on nursing research activities that are congruent with the organization's mission and goals.
3. Identify current trends in clinical research, EBP, and research utilization.
4. Participate in or lead process improvement, EBP, staffing methodology and other strategic plan initiatives to improve nurse-sensitive indicators (e.g., Veteran experience, nurse engagement, ambulatory indicators) and other quality metrics.
5. Collaborate with nurses/committees in reviewing the literature to assure that policies/procedures/protocols are evidence-based and foster translation of research findings into practice.
6. Guide and mentor nurses/committees in the QI/EBP process from identification of questions through design and implementation of projects and dissemination.
7. Collaborate with staff, other disciplines, faculty, students, and peers in developing, conducting, and evaluating EBP activities and programs.
8. Participate in EBP education programs and monitor their effectiveness in advancing EBP competencies of nurses.
9. Disseminate best practice through publications, presentations and other formats to build nursing knowledge.
10. Keep abreast of best practice, research and relevant clinical information to identify own educational and professional development needs.
11. Provide leadership within the profession, contribute to the professional growth and development of colleagues at the local, regional, state or national level.
12. Serve in a leadership capacity in the EBP Fellowship Program.
13. Partner with the Nurse Residency Program leaders to provide EBP content and mentoring to nurse residents.
This position reports to the Innovation & Initiatives Nurse Manager, within the Nursing Excellence Office.

Qualifications
Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
English Language Proficiency: In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.
Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The approving official may authorize a waiver of the requirement for ACEN or CCNE accreditation of any degree in nursing provided the college or university has regional accreditation from an accrediting body recognized by the Department of Education at the time of the candidate's graduation and the composite qualifications of the applicant warrant such consideration. In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing.
Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia.

Education
The Associate Degree Nursing (ADN), Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN), or Master of Science degree in Nursing (MSN) must be fully accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission On Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
