About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the US ARMY INTELLIGENCE AND SECURITY CMD OFFICE OF THE CHIEF OF STAFF OFFICE OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS FORT BELVOIR, VA.
Duties
Serves as a public affairs specialist concerned with formulating, articulating and executing a comprehensive and nationwide/worldwide program.
Plans, develops and directs community relations programs, special events and projects, policies, actions and issues.
Handles controversial or national level issues impacting on DA/INSCOM, particularly during crisis situations.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with news media representatives, answers press queries and provides briefings on technical and other public information matters.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for access to sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
- TDY will be required up to 25% of the time.
- All INSCOM employees may be subject to extended TDY or worldwide deployments during crisis situations to perform mission essential functions as determined by management.
