This position is located in the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP). The mission of OFCCP is to enforce, for the benefit of job seekers and wage earners, the contractual promise of affirmative action and equal employment opportunity required of those who do business with the Federal government. This position is inside the bargaining unit.

Duties

This is an appointment under the DOL Recent Graduates program. The program duration is one year. Upon successful completion of the program and at the agency's discretion, the appointee may be converted to a term or permanent position in the competitive service.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Candidate required to obtain the necessary security/investigation level.
  • Requires a trial period if the requirement has not been met.
  • Appointees must sign a DOL Pathways Recent Graduate Program Participant Agreement.
  • Appointment to this position may require a background investigation.

Qualifications

You must meet the Recent Graduate appointment requirement listed in the Education section and the "Specialized Experience" to qualify for Equal Opportunity Specialist (Compliance Officer), as described below. Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. IN DESCRIBING YOUR EXPERIENCE, PLEASE BE CLEAR AND SPECIFIC. WE WILLNOT MAKE ASSUMPTIONS REGARDING YOUR EXPERIENCE. POSITION TITLES ALONE CANNOT BE USED TO DETERMINE IF YOU ARE QUALIFIED. PLEASE LIST DATES IN MM/DD/YYYY FORMAT. THIS IS IMPERATIVE IN DETERMINING IF WHETHER YOU HAVE AT LEAST 1 YEAR OF CREDITABLE SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE. DATES WILL NOT BE ASSUMED. GS-07: Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-05, in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as work experience: Coordinating meetings to obtain information and explain processes/procedures. Researching and analyzing data to support program operations. Developing and summarizing background information to support compliance programs. And/or Successful completion of one full year of graduate level education that provided the knowledge's, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. And/or Superior academic achievement as demonstrated by a class standing, graduating in the upper third of the class or major university subdivision based on completed courses; grade point average (i.e. cumulative under-graduate GPA of 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on four years of education or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 in courses completed during the final two years of the curriculum); and/or election to membership in a national scholastic honor society. GS-09: Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-07, in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Examples of qualifying specialized experience includes work experience: Conducting routine evaluations and/or investigations to determine compliance with organizational policies or procedures. Evaluating policies and practices and/or providing technical guidance for programs (i.e. applying fact-finding methods to support programs, evaluating records, conducting surveys, and/or conducting interviews, etc.) Performing analyses and compiling reports of data (i.e. mathematical and statistical data) to determine impact of compliance policies and procedures. And/or Successful completion of a Master's or equivalent graduate degree that provided the knowledge's, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. And/or Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education that provided the knowledge's, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. And/or Successful completion of a Master's Degree or equivalent graduate degree such as a LL.B or J.D that provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of this position.

Education

To be eligible for an appointment, you must meet requirements A. or B.

A. Completed all requirements for an associate, bachelor, master, professional, doctorate, vocational, or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution within the previous two years;

or

B. Was released or discharged from active duty within the previous two years, where the applicant is a veteran who, due to a military service obligation, was precluded from applying for a recent graduate position during any portion of the two-year eligibility period following completion of his/her degree or certificate requirements, provided that not more than six years have transpired since the applicant completed the requirements for a degree or certification. You must submit an academic transcript from your academic institution showing the date that you most recently completed the academic requirements described above. Any applicant falsely claiming an academic degree from an accredited school will be subject to actions ranging from disqualification from federal employment to removal from federal service.
