This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Serve as a IT Specialist in the Forensic Toxicology Drug Testing Laboratory (FTDTL), Fort Meade, MD
Duties
You will perform duties of Physical Security Officer.
You will manage software, hardware, documentation and version releases.
You will assist in ensuring vendor compliance with contract provisions.
You will be responsible for the planning and acquisition of designated information technology assets, i.e., computer hardware/software, network, and reuse assets.
You will maintain and manage Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
You will perform customer service 'help desk' duties and provide technical assistance to local functional users to minimize operational disruptions.
You will perform duties of Physical Security Officer, to include, monitoring, maintaining, troubleshooting and configuring Security Card Access System and security video tape recording system.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.

- Position require that you obtain and maintain an Information Assurance (IA) Level II certification.
- Physical examination may be required for this position.
- Must possess or be able to acquire Systems Administrator/Network Administrator level II certificates.
- Position require that you obtain and maintain an Information Assurance (IA) Level II certification.
- This position is designated as sensitive IT-II for Information Technology purposes.
- Position may require to work weekend call duties and evenings.
- The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must demonstrate t least one year of information technology related specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level of pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Performing configuration management assignments to formally document and control the functional and physical characteristics of the system, network, or product during its life cycle; 2) Providing technical assistance to local functional users to minimize operational disruptions; 3) Performing customer service duties to for resolving problems and providing end user support relative to aspects of Information Technology (IT) systems; 4) Conducting extensive research and performing analytical studies in support of selection and acquisition actions to support functional area requirements.
