Duties

As Civilian Pay Technician, GS-08 you will perform the following duties: Reviewing indebtedness letters for accuracy. Reviewing, analyzing, and completing appropriate forms for input to agency program related to such items as death claims, leave buy-back, child support, education loans and tax levy. Auditing employee payroll accounts to determine accuracy of payment, and if required, initiate action to either refund underpayments to recover overpayment.

Requirements

You qualify for the GS-06 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-05 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Protecting personal, private, controlled unclassified, or proprietary information. Providing wide range of customer service responsibilities as requested. Acting as public liaison between business entities. You qualify for the GS-07 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-06 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Assists with employee payroll account audits to determine accuracy. Assists with research and assembling background information necessary for problem resolution. Assists in reviewing and reconciling a variety of payroll reports. You qualify for the GS-08 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-07 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Analyzes and completes appropriate forms for input to agency program related to such items as employee not paid, non-receipt of salary check, undeliverable, unnegotiated salary checks, back pay and leave. Reviews payroll related documents to include, but not limited to, allotments, direct deposits, benefits, dues, taxes, bonds, leave. Audits employee payroll accounts to determine accuracy of payment, and if required, initiate action to either refund underpayments to recover overpayment.
