The Employee is the Program Assistant for the Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Service, Wade Park, Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center. The Employee will be assigned to the SCI Service and will be responsible for a variety of administrative and programmatic support functions to be handled in a manner to enhance the efficiency and flow of the SCI Service as a whole.
Duties

The employee provides advice, assistance and coordination in the implementation of outreach initiatives by SCI Service. Provides input to the implementation of outreach initiatives. Coordinates and provides administrative support to outreach activities. Coordinates outreach program efforts. Identifies potential outreach initiatives. Identifies barriers to recruitment and proposes action plans. Evaluates and reports on the efficiency of recruitment efforts.
The employee determines the scheduling, frequency, location, and agenda of the SCI Outreach meetings. Records meeting minutes, as well as follows up and reports on action items. Identifies stakeholders to present at as well as attend meetings. Prepares and provides necessary documents for meeting facilitation.
The employee identifies, analyzes, and makes good judgement on initiatives for both internal and external outreach. Outreach includes, but is not limited to, Cleveland VAMC Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs), Cleveland SCI Center.
As primary timekeeper for the Service, maintains timecards for all employees under the SCI Chief's supervision, verifying time and attendance. Serves as Service's expert on Time and Leave Administration, providing information and guidance to all supervisors. Advises Chief and appropriate supervisor(s) on employee time and leave issues when corrective action is being contemplated. Also maintains attendance folders for each employee he/she keeps attendance for so that documentation can be provided to Fiscal/Payroll upon request.

Qualifications
One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-6) in the Federal service that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the Program Assistant position to be filled. Specialized experience includes performing a wide variety of clerical and administrative support duties; maintaining records and databases, perform such tasks as assembling information to be used in reports or response to inquiries, to compose correspondence not requiring a technical knowledge drafting policies and memorandums; utilizing various Microsoft Office applications; communicating and working effectively with management team and a wide variety of individuals; and having the ability to gather, analyze and evaluate information. These assignments are performed at the full performance level.
