This position serves in a developmental trainee capacity. The incumbent receives extensive on-the-job training in a variety of routine tasks that will provide experience and technical competence in the methods, procedures, principles, theories, and techniques utilized in the performance of various administrative or program functions under the direction of Rural Development (RD) management.

Duties

Serves as a trainee observing, learning, and assisting others in performing a variety of routine tasks. Gain experience and technical competence in the methods, procedures, principles, theories, and techniques utilized in administering RD loan and grant programs. Providing information to the public. Initiating and preparing correspondence. Maintaining records, reports and files, and assisting in application processing and servicing for Single Family (SFH) loans and grants, and/or Community Program (CP) loans and grants, and/or Business Program (BP) loans and grants

Requirements

• You must be a US Citizen at the time of Non-Competitive conversion to a career conditional appointment
• Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt
• Must be in good academic standing as defined by the educational institution
• Complete at least 640 hrs of work experience prior to completion of degree
• Enrolled at least half-time at a qualifying educational institution
• A signed participant agreement is required for employment under Pathways
• Satisfactory Background investigation and/or fingerprint check
• Successful completion of two-year trial period

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. For the GS-03: Applicants must have completed 1 full academic year of post-high school study. For the GS-04: Applications must have completed 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree.
