This position is in the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, 1300 Pennsylvania Ave., NW., Washington, DC, in the Bureau for Middle East (ME/MEA), at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
Duties
Acting as a liaison and day to day contact for members of congressional committees, the missions, the Department of State, NSC and other government organizations.
Leading or assisting in the resolution of complex program or administrative issues or problems.
Leading or assisting in the preparation of planning, authorization, and implementation documents and monitoring their timely clearance and execution.
Compiling information and developing written products for Bureau and Agency management, colleagues and counterparts in other agencies
Directing or participating in the development and review of country policy recommendations consistent with Bureau and Agency criteria and the foreign policies of the U.S.
Contributes to and assists in the development of plans and programs for technical assistance, capital assistance, and other activities within the sector.
Analyzes and maintains continuous review of all aspects of the assigned region as well as regional developments.
Requirements

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance.
- Time in grade must be met by the closing date of the vacancy announcement.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with the Selective Service.
- You may be required to serve a one year supervisory probationary period.
Qualifications
Specialized Experience: GS-15: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Examples of qualifying specialized experience at the next lower level for this position includes; (a) Establishes guidelines and performance expectations for staff members, which are clearly communicated through the formal employee performance management system; (b) Knowledge and skill to advise other country desk, program strategy/budget, and technical specialists in and outside of USAID, as well as top managers and decision-makers, on issues involving USAID programming and strategic matters, both nationally and internationally; (c) ability to perform very broad and extensive study assignments related to government programs which are of significant interest to the US public, and US Government Executive, and Legislative branches; and (d) ability to serve as a recognized national or international expert in a specialized area of international cooperation.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience relevant to the position's duties to be filled, including volunteer experience.
