You will serve as a INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN/CUSTSPT) in the Naval Medical Research Unit of NAVMEDRSCH UNIT SAN ANTONIO. This announcement uses the Expansion of Direct Hire Authority Personnel of the Department of Defense to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.

Duties

You will provide technical support to users. You will develop standard technical solutions for recurrent problems. You will act as Help Desk support for all the commands automated information systems. You will utilize test equipment and/or diagnostic software to resolve all common occurring computer hardware/software peripheral devise problems. You will install and maintain operating system components.

Requirements

  • This position is designated as a Cyber Workforce position in the DOD Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF) primary role 411, Technical Support Specialist.
  • The incumbent must obtain the required credentials within 12 months of appointment and maintain those credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for DCWF primary role 411 Technical Support Specialist proficiency level Basic.
  • May be required to work other than normal duty hours to include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • This position requires the employee to occasionally travel within the United States for work-related training/conferences.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: maintaining a database of assets for equipment tracking. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: providing continuing technical oversight as Help/Work Desk technical point-of-contact. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include Instructing computer use and software applications either as a one-on-one or in a classroom. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Responding to system shutdowns, interruptions, failures and analyzes problems, to determine reasons and affects repair. In addition to experience demonstrating the four competencies above, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Receiving and remediating customer complaints and questions regarding the overall use of a DoD computer system or similar systems; Providing advice and assistance and troubleshoots complex problems to minimize interruptions; Creating and administering logon user accounts, email accounts trouble ticket accounts and other logon accounts in a domain environment; . Coordinating customer support to the command and the automated healthcare system administrator in the services of user accounts, maintenance and peripheral; and Using methods and practices for troubleshooting, adjusting, modifying and improving IT systems to provide support that minimize interruptions in customer's ability to carry out the command's mission. Education

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position:

Successful completion of a Master's degree or equivalent Graduate degree;
OR
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree.


COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be combined to meet the total qualification requirements.
