About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain half way between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, Alabama just off interstate 20. The depot is the largest Employer in Calhoun County with approximately 5000 employees
Duties
Assist lower grade employees in performing installation, assembly and operation of electronic controlled industrial production machinery.
Use various hand, power and shop tools common to the trade of an electronic industrial controls mechanic.
Communicate with manufacturer's representatives regarding modification/upgrades to obsolete machinery/parts and apply from instructions received.
Assist lower grade employees in using appropriate test equipment to troubleshoot complex electronic controlled production machinery.
Apply fundamental of computer concepts when troubleshooting and repairing electronic subassemblies and components.
Analyze or interpreted data in order to repair or modify complex electronic production machinery utilizing blueprints/diagrams, schematics and perform final testing for proper operation.
Requirements
- Federal Wage System employees, WG/WL/WS etc, must satisfactorily complete the appropriate annual Depot Medical Examination.
- Position requires a valid state driver license.
- Position requires 5 % TDY Travel.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic MVO without more than normal supervision. Perform common functional tests to determine the extent and location of malfunctions and to isolate defective components. Perform wide variety of repairs and maintenance tasks to control systems for specialized heavy industrial equipment containing a number of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic subassemblies and components. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.- Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Work involves walking, standing, bending and working in awkward positions. Frequently handles and lifts items weighing up to 45 pounds and occasionally may lift an item weighing up to 60 pounds.
Work is usually performed in buildings that are moderately heated and occasionally outside where there is exposure to weather elements. Buildings have concrete floors and there is noise from running machinery. There is possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, burns and electrical shock. Since exposure to hazardous material/waste is possible, wares protective clothing and safety equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, rubber boots, coveralls, goggles, aprons, gloves, ear plugs, etc.
