This position is located in the Division of Facility Management and Operations and will supervise facility maintenance operations.
A selectee receiving a first appointment to the Federal Government (Civil Service) is entitled only to the lowest step of the grade for which selected. The display of a salary range on this vacancy shall not be construed as granting an entitlement to a higher rate of pay.
Duties
Responsible for supervising the performance of the facility maintenance work teams.
Establishes and maintains employees' development, career counseling, and evaluation program geared to both the needs of the employee and the park.
As the supervisor of a work center comprised of skilled professionals and technicians, the incumbent utilizes skill and tact to direct, coordinate and oversee day-to-day work.
Considers multiple programmatic views and requirements when formulating feedback or advice to supervisors/park leadership or when making decisions within the purview of the incumbent's decision-making authority.
Advises supervisors on project and program updates; assures equity of performance standards and ratings for subordinate staff; makes decisions on work problems presented by subordinate team members; and evaluates performance of assigned staff.
Approves and/or makes selections for subordinate employees, resolves group grievances, reviews, approves, and/or takes disciplinary actions, approves expenses comparable to within grade increases, overtime and travel.
Requirements
- Must obtain and maintain a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License within one year of enter on duty.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Must meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
- Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- You may be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties.
- Driver's License: must submit (in state sealed envelope directly from the state authorities), at your own expense, all certified driving records from all states that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.
- You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
- If you are a new employee or supervisor in the Federal government, you will be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
- You may be required to travel overnight away from home occasionally. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.
- You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority.
- You may be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime.
- You will be required to complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450 on an annual basis.
- You will be required to submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test result prior to appointment. In addition, this position is subject to random testing for illegal drug use.

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:

Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
Technical Practices (theoretical precise, artistic)
Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation Repair, etc.
