Incumbent serves as the Interior Design (ID) Assistant supporting two Interior Designers for all of the NFSG/VHS. Incumbent reports directly to the Chief of EMS or designee for prioritized day to day assignments. The incumbent is primarily responsible for Interior Design administrative duties and assist Interior Designers in developing and maintaining the Interior Design program for all North Florida/South Georgia site properties.
Duties
Primary Duties include but are not limited to:
Uses Word to prepare memorandums, letters and procurement packages.
Assists Interior Designers (ID) in developing and maintaining the Interior Design program for all North Florida/South Georgia site properties.
Assists in maintaining a comprehensive Interior Design resource library.
Assists warehouse and ID laborers on all new furniture being received as well as excess furniture.
Responsible for the ID warehouse and determines furniture to be excessed for re-use or turn in.
Coordinates cleaning and movement of ID items with the Sanitation Section of EMS, as well as contractors when necessary during projects.
Assist developing budget recommendations and cost estimates for a wide variety of projects.
Deals with various factors in arriving at completed work assignments, such as type of area, noise and traffic levels, functions or use of areas, and the desires of staff members and other occupants who will be using the area.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/31/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.
**Award 50's do not provide sufficient information and will not be accepted for the purpose of verifying time-in-grade.
If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Maintaining Calendars for activities using Outlook and emails.
Receiving requests for furniture, and prepares request or credit card orders.
Assisting Interior Designers on new construction projects.
Assisting Interior Designers with selection of fabric, flooring, paint, window treatments and directional signage.
Attending Interior Designer project related meetings, ordering office supplies and using a government credit card.

Physical Requirements: The incumbent is responsible for economical and proper use of materials and careful operation of power machines in order to prevent loss or damage to equipment, furniture or furnishings. Incumbent encounters physical exertion in movements such as, but not limited to, handling supplies and furniture, stooping, walking, sitting, and moderate to heavy lifting. The movements are encountered in duties such as operating moving equipment including hand trucks, dollies and pushing/pulling flat carts, pallet jacks, and power equipment. Total weight of pushing and pulling said items range from 25-500 lbs.
