You will serve as a ELECTRONIC ALARM SYSTEM MECHANIC in the NAVY PUBLIC WORKS CENTER of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.

Duties

You will disassemble and reassemble equipment to make repairs or replace circuit boards, sensors, controllers, encoders, or conveyors. You will install, maintain, repair, modify, and test security alarm systems for facilities. You will troubleshoot electronic systems, components, or devices using research manuals, blueprints, or diagrams to plan method of repair. You will perform analysis on system failures to determine troubleshooting procedures and data corrections. You will use electronic amplifiers, processors, filters, bridges, or other electronic devices to transform electro-acoustical, electro-mechanical, or electro-optical devices into digital signals. You will use test equipment (e.g., oscilloscope, transistor tester, logic comparator, volt-ohm meter, special purpose test set) to install and repair electronic equipment.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

  • Subject to falls, cuts, bruises, possibility of broken bones, electrical shock, burns from soldering irons, injury from improper lifting, and illness from exposure to weather.
  • May be required to become CPR certified.
  • May require ability to obtain and maintain current licenses to operate Fork Lift, High Lift (JLG), Bucket Truck and/or Construction Equipment.
  • Call back and emergency overtime are regular requirements of this position.

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION 1) Utilizing building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineer drawings, and electrical maintenance and repair manuals to plan and lay out the routing of equipment and controls; 2) Determining and installing wiring, conduit, transformers and other electrical devices in the size, type, and arrangement needed for proper and safe operation of electrical alarm systems and equipment.
