These positions are located in the Pacific Northwest Region, Region 6 in a designated Forest Service Office located in Portland, OR, Joseph, OR, and Roseburg, OR. The incumbent is responsible for performing, providing and/or advising on a variety of administrative management services regarding a specialized area or program the unit/staff supports. Duties

Duties listed are at the full performance GS-07 grade. Provides administrative support in the specialized area or program the unit/staff supports. Responds to information requests on topics related to the mission, products, or services of the unit/staff. Explains resources, services, and administrative processes to clients using the appropriate form(s) and/or making appropriate referrals following established procedures. Serves as the administrative business process point of contact for the staff regarding the specialized area or program. Responsible for the administrative oversight of various business processes, which may include processing financial, procurement, property, personnel, and other administrative instruments for the unit/staff. Ensures agency compliance with specialized area or program laws, rules, and regulations. Prepares and answers correspondence relevant to the specialized area or program. Prepares and develops meeting materials, briefing charts, fact sheets and issue papers, and attends meetings with leadership to coordinate, explain or provide guidance on the specialized area or program as necessary. Independently prepares responses to inquiries on routine matters.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the eligibility and qualifications requirements as defined below by the closing date of the announcement. Provide course descriptions as necessary. Specialized Experience Requirement For the GS-05: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as performing one or more of the following: Greeted visitors and responded to phone and written inquiries personally or referring to other staff as appropriate; Maintained written records and files in electronic and/or hardcopy filing systems; Used word processing software and printing equipment to create, copy, edit, store, retrieve, and print standardized documents ensuring correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and format. OR A bachelor's degree or 4 years of successfully completed education above high school; OR Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education (in excess of the first 60 semester hours) and specialized experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. For the GS-06: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as performing one or more of the following: Provided support and assistance processing a wide variety of requisitions; Reconciled purchases and maintain files in accordance with Federal regulations and agency directives; Processed incoming and outgoing mail; Established and maintain the unit's files, accountable property inventories, records, etc. (hardcopy and/or electronic format); Used automated software to produce reports, correspondence and other written documents in draft form. OR One full year (18 semester hours) of successfully completed graduate level education if the coursework is directly related to the work of the position (such as Business Administration). OR Combination of graduate level education that is directly related to the position and specialized experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. For the GS-07: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as performing one or more of the following: Carried out a variety of administrative and support processes to meet unit needs; Received and reviewed all formal ingoing/outgoing correspondence for proper format, grammar, punctuation, etc.; Used automated databases and software to produce reports and record information; Established and maintain manual and electronic records and filing systems; Produced written documentation, reports, memos, etc. in final format. OR One full year (18 semester hours) of successfully completed graduate level education if the coursework is directly related to the work of the position (such as Business Administration). OR Combination of graduate level education that is directly related to the position and specialized experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT (GS 6 and GS 7 levels only): If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
