You will serve as a SUPERVISORY PACKAGING SPECIALIST in the Material Support Branch, Supply Managment Department of NAVSUP FLT LOGISTICS CNTR SAN DIEGO.
Duties
You will ensure the protection of supplies, materials, and equipment against damage from various forces and environmental conditions during handling, transit, or storage.
You will be familiar with governing rules and regulations (e.g., IATA Cargo and Dangerous Goods Regulations, Title 49 Code.) to ensure compatibility of materials to avoid potential chemical reactions, toxicity, explosions, and corrosion.
You will develop packing and shoring methods, techniques, guidelines, and operating procedures to facilitate the receipt, custody, care, and distribution of Expeditionary Warfare Center TOA materials and National Science Foundation cargo.
You will analyze work requirements, determine resources needed to accomplish work, and make assignments depending upon workload and availability of personnel, adjusting for periods of leave and vacancies.
You will serve as a 2nd line supervisor to the Preservation, Packaging, Packing, and Marking section and 1st line supervisor of Containerization, Civil Engineering Support Equipment section and Material Handling stacker pool sections.
You will set and adjust work priorities, prepares schedules to ensure safe and timely completion of tasks, and continuously reviews work methods and procedures to identify opportunities for enhanced efficiency and effectiveness.
Requirements

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

Qualifications
Your resume should demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-9) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Examples of Qualifying Specialized Experience: (1) Comprehensive knowledge of Preservation, Packaging, and Marking methods, regulations, and guidelines; 2) Setting and adjusting work priorities, scheduling tasks for safe and timely completion, and reviewing methods for efficiency. (3) Understanding of supply regulations, policies, procedures, and their impact on logistics and scheduling. (4) Analyzing and correcting problems in work quality and operating effectiveness and providing cross training for organizational flexibility. (5) Thorough understanding of Hazardous Material regulations for packing, marking, labeling, and shipment.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.M., if related
