The Management & Program Assistant serves as a full-time staff member within the Community Care Service Line at the Iowa City Veterans Affairs Health Care System (ICVAHCS). The incumbent is responsible for pulling data and completing audits on community care processes.
Duties
Major duties include but are not limited to:
On a re-occurring basis (daily, weekly, monthly) the performs audits of Care in the Community (CITC) processes.
Conduct daily audit of authorization outliers (or those with red flags), as well as a weekly audit of the accuracy and timeliness of the CITC referral process.
On a re-occurring basis (daily, weekly, monthly) the incumbent prepares reports which enable Executive Leadership, the Nurse Administrator, facility clinicians and front-line managers to make decisions related to CITC utilization, performance and expenditures.
Prepares reports related to the adequacy of CITC processes and individual team member performance.
Engage in analytical, financial, statistical, and quantitative problem solving and analysis.
Handles conflict and problems in dealing with the customer constructively and appropriately.
Completes most projects on a regular and re-occurring basis and requires minimal to no supervision to complete them accurately and on time.
Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and database software and is able to trouble-shoot software and system errors/issues.
Consistently communicates and treats customers, veterans, their representatives, visitors, and all VA staff in a tactful and respectful manner.
Works with external customers to resolve issues and concerns.
Generates reports for supervisors, peers, facility leadership and executive staff.
Other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm
Telework: Eligible to regularly telework 6+ days per pay period.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/30/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: prioritizing and/or organizing work to meet deadlines; ensuring compliance with established processes, policies and/or regulations; expert proficiency with Microsoft Excel data spreadsheets, pivot tables, and graphs; analyzing data and identifying trends/outliers; utilizing automated systems to generate reports in various formats; and performing various administrative duties (such as timekeeping, maintaining calendars, and/or ordering supplies).
