About the Position: This position is a Public Affairs Specialist with the Pueblo Chemical Depot in Pueblo, Colorado.Incumbent will conduct the public affairs program in an agency by communicating information through verbal, written, media and community relations.
Duties
Conduct the public affairs program for an organization with responsibility for developing and providing staff direction involving all public information, internal information, and community relations.
Plans and coordinate the dissemination of information at the depot level relating to the organization's programs, objectives and functions through the news media.
Write articles and speeches for the Commander or organization directors.
Establish and develop effective relationships with media representatives and other public affairs personnel of groups, which currently give little or no coverage to organization programs.
Prepare and publish organization publications to keep all internal audiences informed of programs and activities of installation.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- This position is subject to the Unescorted Access Program (UAP), if identified as being necessary to be in the UAP.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes demonstrated experience 1) Conducting briefings with various organizations on their concerns of the installation activities; 2) Creating publication for installation activities through the media such as social media, radio, newspaper, etc. and 3) Overseeing all arrangements with media involving with the installation activities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
