The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a security specialist for an organization with subordinate organizations below them to protect resources from espionage, terrorism, and threats of unauthorized disclosure and/or compromise of information or material considered vital to the organization's mission interests, national defense or national security

Duties

Serves as security program specialist executing and enforcing compliance with operational, functional, and mission assurance aspects of an integrated information security program. Executes and enforces compliance with the organization personnel security program. Serves as the organization's representative for Industrial Security issues. Administers the Physical Security Program for the organization.

Requirements

  • All new DCIPS employees are required to complete a two-year DCIPS trial period.
  • Position is designated special-sensitive and requires eligibility for access to SCI, other Special Sensitive information, or involvement in Special Access Programs to perform the duties of the position. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.

  • This posn is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
  • Must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal and Regulatory Guide
  • This position has been designated as a Testing Designated Position. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission.

  • DoD Security Fundamentals Professional and Security Asset Protection Professional Certifications are required within 2 years of EOD. Certifications may not be modified without written approval of the AF Security Functional Authority.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. This is a GG-12 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-12 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-12 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: Knowledge of a wide range of security specialties, concepts, principles, criteria, requirements, technology and practices. Knowledge of the intelligence enterprise to support and promote information sharing and strategies. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of a wide range of security specialties, concepts, principles, criteria, requirements, technology, and practices. 2. Knowledge of the intelligence enterprise to support and promote information sharing and strategies. 3. Knowledge of required security training concepts, programs, procedures, and practices to assist managers in establishing and operating internal security programs. 4. Skill in the use of analytical principles, practices, and techniques to review and evaluate security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program for the organization. 5. Ability to communicate orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and accurately. 6. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
