Duties
Full-time Career appointments and Career-seasonal positions may be available. Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work approximately at least 6 months, and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year. Work seasons depend on location.

This position perform the full range of custodial work including: cleaning and servicing vault toilets, buildings, campgrounds, and emptying trash receptacles. These positions are required to operate a government vehicle to perform assigned work and may provide general assistance to others in the maintenance of buildings, grounds, roads, trails, etc. These are uniformed positions and must be able to respond to visitors politely.
Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve: Has a Full-Time appointment available.
Area information: Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve is a treasure of visual, geological and biological surprises a high mountain valley holding the tallest dunes in North America and flanked by some of the highest peaks in the Rocky Mountains; unique wind-powered geologic systems; alpine lakes and tundra; disappearing creeks; interdunal wetlands and much more! The city of Alamosa, Colorado, is 35 miles from the park and offers a full range of shopping, medical facilities and other amenities.
Government housing is not available.
Rocky Mountain National Park: Has a Career-Seasonal appointments available- Career Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. Non-pay status will be in November through February.
Area Information: Established on January 29, 1915, Rocky Mountain National Park is a living showcase of the grandeur of the Rocky Mountains. The park embraces 415 square miles of pristine, uninhabited mountains in north-central Colorado and, as such, is one of the most spectacular, yet easily accessible high mountain areas in North America. With elevations ranging from 7,800 feet at park headquarters to 14,259 feet at the summit of Longs Peak, the park has glacier-sculptured valleys, rugged gorges, alpine lakes, and vast areas of alpine tundra. Trail Ridge Road, the highest paved continuous road in the United States, stays above tree line for 11 miles and reaches 12,183 feet in elevation. Elk, deer, bighorn sheep, moose, coyotes, and smaller animals are found throughout the park, as well as threatened and endangered species, such as the Greenback Cutthroat Trout and Boreal Toad. Due to the park's easy accessibility to the Front Range communities of Colorado, Rocky experiences over 4 million visitors annually. This position will be filled on the east side of Rocky Mountain National Park. The nearest community is Estes Park, CO, which has K-12 schools, a post office, restaurants, medical facilities, and grocery stores. Denver, CO which has a major airport, cultural events, and several professional sports teams is a two-hour drive away.
Government housing may be available on a temporary or permanent basis. Housing assignments are made through a bid process.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:
Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (Screen Out) Perform custodial and janitorial work such as sweeping, scrubbing and waxing floors. Cleaning and deodorize lavatories, urinals, toilets and sinks. Washes windows and walls, dusting and polishing furniture and fixtures, routine grounds maintenance along with along with perform routine tasks of plumbing (cleaning drains, Masonry (Mixing cement mortar) or painting (sanding, taping, applying paint with brushes or rollers) without more than normal supervision. Able to operate light duty motor vehicles weighing up to 10,000 pounds (such as pickup trucks, panel trucks, flatbed trucks etc.) to transport personnel, material, or equipment to work sites located in the park. You must show that you.
