This position is located at the VA Medical Center, Louisville, KY and is within the Prosthetic Treatment Center (PTC).
Duties
***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION***
Duties include but may not be limited to:
Initiates repair orders for items requiring repairs.
Uses office automation equipment such as computer, telephone, scanner, facsimile machines.
Schedules patients in accordance with scheduling directive.
Greets patients and family while recording arrival time.
Work Schedule: Fulltime, Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. This position may be authorized for telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must have the following qualifications:
Typing Speed - This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.
English Language Proficiency - In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), No person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English. You must be proficient in basic written and spoken English in order to meet the requirements of this position.
AND
TYPING PROFICIENCY: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.
AND
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS 4) in Federal Service that includes performing the following duties: Insures that pending requests are posted to the suspense log and enters data.; Assists in administrating specialized programs within the service (i.e. Scheduling appointments and authorizing travel etc.).; Proficient with medical, prosthetics and orthotic terminology.; Interacts with geriatric patients and responds appropriately if there is a functional disability (e.g. hearing, sight, physical limitations, cognitive loss or depression).
OR
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): I have successfully complete 4 years of education above high school.
OR
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): I have equivalent combinations of One full academic year of successfully completed education (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience and specialized experience, as described above, which meet the total experience requirements for this grade level. The education portion must include graduate courses directly related to the work of this position.

Physical Requirements:
The stress encountered throughout the workday in coordinating the delivery of prosthetic appliances and/or services with physicians, social workers, therapist, seriously ill and severely disabled veterans and their families, vendors and the arranging delivery for health care and life-support equipment is an unavoidable aspect of the position.
