Job opening: SUPERVISORY RECREATION SPECIALIST (ARTS & CRAFTS DIRECTOR)

This position will be assigned to the Arts & Crafts Center.
This is a regular full-time position guaranteed 35 hours however could work up to 40 hours per week to support the needs of the mission and is eligible to earn leave or other NAF benefits.
Must be able to successfully pass pre-employment physical and be able to lift objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
Duties
Responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the Arts and Crafts Program. Programs include the following: Auto Skills Program, Multi-Crafts Program, Frame Shop and Engraving Shop. Implements higher level directives and formulates procedures and programs to ensure high standards of recreational and promotional programs. Develops long and short range plans and accurately determine resources needed to support the programs.
Routinely identifies overall objectives and priorities for subordinate sections and effectively determines how resources will be allocated. Evaluates the Arts and Crafts Program to determine identification of needs, available and potential resources, establishment of priorities and justification of program and financial status.
Confers with Community Services Flight Chief and other Force Support Squadron Leadership in devising and implementing programs and activities that appeal to and influence/improve the quality of life for eligible personnel. Prepares and maintains the necessary data to program, justify and submit annual appropriated fund operations and maintenance (O&M) budget and non-appropriated fund budget. Directs the development of marketing/publicity plans, policies, programs and strategies to enable the marketing director to produce appropriate publicity material being utilized and widely disseminated. Performs supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
Structures assignments and assigns work; establishes work priorities and deadlines; develops work plans; hears group or individual grievances or complaints; schedules and grants leave; determines training needs; applies EEO concepts and requirements; selects, disciplines and evaluates employees; maintains a safe and appropriate working environment and gives instruction and guidance in the substantive work of the organization. Operates a variety of equipment to include but not limited to engraving, embroidery, lettering, heat presses, air brushes, mat cutters, choppers and various power tools.
Participates in base exercises and inspections as required to ensure security and safety standards are met. Executes Flight assignment; assists other functional elements of the Flight and Squadron for special events and base wide functions as delegated by Flight Chief. All other duties as assigned.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have responsible experience which provided a working knowledge of arts and crafts facilities or similar operations.
Previous cashier or sales experience is preferred.
Skill in the use and maintenance of various types of arts and crafts equipment is desirable.
Must be able to operate a personal computer.
Must be familiar with NAF budgeting, cash controls over all assets.
Must have ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and present a professional image.
Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
Must possess skill in dealing with the public.
Must successfully complete a National Agency Check and any other required background or security investigation.
May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty to include nights, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position DOES NOT allow for education substitution.
