You will serve as a Pipefitter in the Production Division, Public Works Department of NAVAL FAC ENGINEERING CMD WASH.

Duties

You will interpret pipefitting assignments (e.g., work orders, building plans, blueprints) to meet workload requirements. You will make pressure joints (e.g., threaded, flanged welded, flange bolted, brazed, soldered, silver brazed) to install piping sections. You will calculate pipe, joint, or valve sizes needed to support pressures of systems.. You will inspect and test systems for damage, leaks, and blockages in lines, expansion joints, valves and traps. You will determine causes of problems and recommend corrective action on pipefitting work.

Requirements

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to perform common tasks including 1) Assisting in installing , modifying, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing industrial equipment; 2) Assisting with planning, laying out and installing piping systems and equipment from blueprints, sketches, etc. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
