About the Position: US Army Aviation and Missile Command develops and delivers responsive aviation, missile and calibration materiel readiness to the United States Army in order to optimize joint warfighter capabilities at the point of need. Aviation and Missile Center is a Demonstration Laboratory, and positions are placed in pay bands. The pay band for this position, NH-4, is equivalent to GS-14. Pay for this position is capped at the GS-14 step 10, $157,100.

Duties

Applies expert knowledge of systemic inspection techniques, methodology, and analytical abilities to determine the inspection concept to be used for inspection issues. Plan inspections, sets priorities and schedules for completion, and ensures timely performance. Develops pre-inspection and inspection plans, performs related analysis, conducts on-site inspection, and reviews inspection findings. Conduct entrance and exit briefings with senior management officials. Serve as Subject Matter Expert in all matters concerning The Army Inspection Policy. Review and evaluates inspection reports for technical sufficiency, completeness, high quality, readable, and compliant with law, regulations and established policies. Receive, reviews and evaluates incoming complaints, requests for assistance, requests for information, and other data to determine validity and importance. Determines whether the request should be processed as assistance, inquiry, or investigation. Conduct inspections and participates as a member of an inspection team with other inspector generals. Lead the team by exercising effective management skills in assessing the team strengths and weaknesses. Provide leadership to the team in exploring alternatives and determining what improvements can be made to achieve the most effective and economical structure to perform assigned mission.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time.
  • Drug testing is required.
  • Must be able to successfully complete The Inspector General Basic course and comply with all credentialing requirements IAW AR 20-1.

Pay for this position is capped at the GS-14 step 10, $157,100.
