About the Position: The Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) aims to conduct biomedical research that is responsive to Department of Defense and US Army requirements and delivers lifesaving products including knowledge, technology and medical material that sustain the combat effectiveness of the Warfighter.

Duties

The Equipment Specialist will run the turn-in program and manage the warehouse space. Process turn-in equipment, and will be the primary point of contact between WRAIR and ORMS (Operational Readiness Monitoring System) for the turn-in of equipment. Reviews and recommends requests for Test, Maintenance and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) purchases, repair, and calibration. Accept turn-in equipment from hand receipt holders in WRAIR in a timely manner. Monitor the removal of property from the property book. Serve as the GPC Cardholder ordering officer.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain eligibility for a Secret security clearance.
  • Extended Probationary Period: The length of the probationary period for the Administrative and Management Occupational Family will be two years.

The DJ-02 pay band is equivalent to the GS-05 step 01 to GS-10 step 10 level, but Management has elected to announce at the higher end of the pay band GS-09 step 01 to GS-10 step 10. In keeping with the Demonstration pay fixing policies, employees earning a salary that falls within this pay band equivalent, will not receive an immediate pay increase (promotion) if appointed to this position. Future pay increases within the pay band will be accomplished through the pay for performance management system. Minimum Qualifications: In order to qualify applicants must meet one of the following: Specialized Experience: one year of specialized experience equivalent to the DJ-02 (GS-07) grade level in the Federal service which includes: (1) Monitor warehouse space for equipment; (2) Process receipts for physical inventory; (3) Follow government regulations or policies for equipment disposal; AND (4) Monitor a turn-in program for equipment reutilization. OR Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. OR A combination of the specialized experience described above, but less than one year; and at least two years of graduate education as described above, but less than the required three years.
