Duties

You will serve as a Telecommunications Assistant in the BCO San Diego Division, N5 Policy, Plans, and Projects Department at Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station San Diego (NAVCOMTELSTA). You will assist in writing service requests for on-base telecommunication services for various San Diego host and tenant users of telecommunication services. You will coordinate funding to insure resources are in place prior to issuing Communications Service Authorizations (CSA). You will assist on-base residential customers with procurement of residential services. You will receive and analyze calls from San Diego host and tenant users on service malfunctions. You will maintain logs in order to diagnose trends and initiate timely correction actions. You will maintain accountability of requests for service and liaison with requesting user. You will issue service requests via computer program to contractor for all installations, disconnects, and changes involving circuits and phone lines. You will reconcile completed work orders with contractors to ensure billing accuracy. You will assist in drawing up of host tenant agreements and in authorizing new tenant service.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

Qualifications

Applicant must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by: -Experience identifying different types of telecommunication services and equipment. -Experience working with automatic telecommunication management computer systems accurately inputting service orders. -Experience using a computer and associated software such as MS Office suite or similar programs. -Experience communicating in written form via emails and other correspondence documents. This position is within the Work Category TECHNICAL and ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT at Work Level FULL PERFORMANCE, Series and Grade GG-0303-07. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
