Duties

This position allows you to use your expertise in administration to provide advisory and technical services to CBP Management. This position starts at a salary of $60,863.00 (GS-9, Step 1) to $79,119.00 (GS-9, Step 10) with promotion potential to $79,119.00 (GS-9 Step 10). As a Mission Support Specialist (Generalist) who plans and carries out a wide variety of administrative, management and program planning activities, policy research and other duties related to the missions and functions of the Mission Readiness Operations. Major duties include: Processing lost, stolen, destroyed or missing property; assisting with conducting inventories, record management, and preparing/ processing various property reports; assisting with managing pay, overtime, leave and administration; researching suppliers and working with requesters to procure goods/services, preparing required documentation for approval; Providing support to process damaged vehicles and scheduling repairs; arranging for delivery of fleet equipment and parts for repairs/ services; maintaining records management for producing various fleet reports; applying knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies for personnel benefits and entitlements to provide general guidance and information for coverage options; Assisting with the fleet card program including ordering cards, performing audits, extracting reports, and reconciling invoices; coordinating bulk fuel delivery, invoicing, and payment; tracking mileage for fleet vehicles and equipment for scheduled services and safety inspections; coordinating with staff to ensure actions are completed in a timely manner; Coordinating facility repairs and recording requests in facilities management systems; participating in studies and analytical projects related to current and proposed initiatives; gathering information and preparing reports with data from internal data sources as well as other automation systems for regular and/or one-time needs by staff and management.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-09 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Establishing priorities and methods as necessary to accomplish tasks in a timely manner Developing tracking/filing systems for incoming and outgoing correspondence Assisting in performing physical inventory and reporting inventory status; Executing purchases, conducting reconciliation and maintaining required related documentation Providing support to a wide variety of budget and purchasing processes, human resources processes (i.e. benefits, pay, leave); tracking fleet maintenance, services, and repairs; tracking vehicle usage Updating and maintaining electronic property databases and systems NOTE: Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you will be found ineligible. Education Substitution: A Master's degree, two full years of graduate education, a J.D. or an LL.B. degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for experience required at this level. Check with your school to determine how many credit hours comprise two years of graduate education. If that information is not available, use 36 semester or 54 quarter hours. Combining Education and Experience: To combine your education and experience, you must convert each to a percentage, and then add the percentages. The combined total of your percentage of education and experience must equal at least 100% in order to qualify. If your education is currently described in quarter hours, convert the quarter hours into semester hours by multiplying the quarter hours by the fraction 2/3. To calculate your percentage of graduate education, divide the number of graduate semester hours by 18. To determine your percentage of qualifying experience, you must divide your total number of months of qualifying experience by the required number of months of experience. Add your percentages of education and experience. The two percentages must total at least 100%. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 10/27/2023. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
