THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a WG-5801-10 SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1194000 in SPMD 5133 and is part of the MO Field Maintenance Shop 14.
APPOINTMENT FACTORS: This is an Indefinite Excepted Service position. This is a bargaining position. SEE NOTES UNDER CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT BELOW.
Duties
Performs maintenance, troubleshooting, and major repair on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical, and automotive vehicles.
Troubleshoots, repairs and overhauls major systems to include internal combustion engines, turbine engines, automatic and non-automatic transmissions, heavy duty drive line systems, and hydraulic utility systems and controls.
Repairs a variety of complex major systems to include engines, cross drive or similar multi-system transmissions and a variety ofintricate fuel injection systems.
Determines when parts should be cleaned, adjusted or replaced with standard parts to complete work orders.
Removes, replaces, adjusts, cleans and installs parts and components.
Performs minor body and fender, or other metal repairs.
Performs limited repairs and routine maintenance on small arms and accessory equipment by replacing worn or damaged parts.
Makes minor repairs to canvas and leather items using bonding/sealing compounds and hand tools such as
awls, canvas needles etc.
Requirements
- If selected individual is in an Indefinite status (Tenure 3) with the Missouri Army National Guard, that individual will retain their Indefinite status.
- Management has the right to convert this position to permanent status without re-advertising.
- Employment can be terminated with a 30 day notice.

- This is an Excepted Service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Missouri National Guard prior to the effective date of placement.

Qualifications
MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an Excepted Service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Maximum Military Grade - Warrant Officer: CW3 (W-3) Enlisted: SGM (E-9)
Warrant Officer - Branch 12, 13, 14, 19, 25, 91, 92 or 94; MOS 882A
Enlisted - CMF 12, 13, 14, 19, 25, 88, 91, 92 or 94
Supervisor must verify that selected individual occupies a compatible military position. Title 32 National Guard employees will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor or wage leader (grade inversion).
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience, education or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and able to use common tools and equipment in the line of work.
WG-10 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess 18 months of specialized experience which demonstrates your experience in diagnosing, repairing, overhauling and modifying a variety of combat, tactical, commercial, special purpose vehicles and equipment. The specialized experience must also demonstrate your ability to repair or overhaul major components such as diesel, multi-fuel or gasoline engines, turbine engines, automatic and manual transmissions, drive line assemblies, electrical and electronic systems and accessories, fuel injection systems, and emission control systems. Experience that demonstrates your ability to utilize, interpret and apply parts list, manufacturer's repair manuals, technical manuals, diagrams, engineering drawings, diagnostic computer information and schematics.
