The ideal candidate in this position should be able to perform a full range of field-level overhaul and repair work on chassis group units of one or more types of vehicles powered by internal combustion engines to include commercial/industrial use vehicles such as trucks, forklifts and multi-wheel drive vehicles with automatic and manual transmissions and auxiliary equipment.

Physical Effort: Incumbent must be capable of working effectively in a high-stress disasterenvironment, sometimes under less than desirable weather and living conditions,7 days a week, 12 or more hours a day, for up to 30 days. The incumbent isrequired to undergo periodic physical examinations to satisfy the CommercialDriver's License requirements in the state of residence. Incumbent must be ableto lift weights up to 45 pounds and be physically and mentally capable ofperforming all tasks and duties associated with a mechanic in a disasterresponse organization.
