About the Position: Working leader for team of 5-7 employees performing work in trades and laboring work. Perform as liaison between work foreman (Working Supervisor) and other team members, responsible for determining work assignments, obtaining equipment and supplies, review of work in process to ascertain acceptable level of performance, progress, and review of daily labor & equipment reporting for accuracy.

Duties

Apply a full range of carpentry skills and techniques in repairing, constructing, remodeling, and maintaining a variety of wooden structures. Plan and lay out work in accordance with drawings, sketches, and blueprints. Set up and operate a wide variety of woodworking machines and tools. Operate trucks of 1/4-ton to 3/4-ton capacity in performance of duties.

Climbs ladders and scaffolds, frequently required to lift and carry building materials to include lumber, roofing, floor tile, linoleum and gypsum board, frequently weighing in excess of 50 pounds. Must be able to use a respirator for extended period of time while working. WORKING CONDITIONS Works both inside and outside in temperatures ranging from 100 to -60 F. Outside is exposed to snow, rain, and wind. Inside work is usually in buildings adequately heated, lighted and ventilated. Noise from hammers, saws, and other shop tools is frequent. There is dust and sometimes dirt when repairing structures and operating power saws. Possibility of exposure to hazardous materials. Injuries may occur in lifting heavy pieces of lumber or equipment, and cuts, bruises in using hand tools and equipment. More serious injuries in operating power tools and in falls from ladders and scaffolds. Is subject to skin and lung irritations and possible poison from exposure to paint fumes, roofing compounds, adhesives, solvents and other caustic materials. Protective clothing and equipment (such as respirators) are available to minimize dangers of exposure to hazardous conditions or materials.
