This position is located at The Research & Analysis Center (TRAC). TRAC's work program is aligned with the highest priorities of the Commander, Army Futures Command (AFC) and the Chief of Staff of the Army. TRAC studies have underpinned the key decisions made by the Army and DOD regarding nearly every major Army initiative and program since TRAC's inception in 1986, enabling new Army capabilities and investments valued in the hundreds of billions.

Duties

Serve as an operations research analyst on a team responsible for accomplishing analyses, studies, experimentation, evaluations, plans, test design and coordination. Apply a broad range of experience to plan, develop, and coordinate requirements evaluation activities of spin-out systems, force development planning, systems analysis, and tests supporting analysis of current and proposed Army systems. Apply a broad knowledge of the material system involved, provide expert advice regarding operations research analysis and evaluation of weapon systems and associated support systems. Utilize a broad knowledge of complex operations research methodology, mathematical and statistical analysis in the development, modification, and utilization of complex combat simulations and scenarios used in analyses of weapon systems.

Basic Requirement for Operations Research Analyst: Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in operations research; or a degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Applying analytical techniques and methods to analyze effectiveness of systems and/or their sub-systems in the execution of studies; 2) Applying operations research methodology to analyze weapons systems; AND 3) Developing evaluation requirements when testing proposed systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Data AnalysisOral CommunicationTechnical Credibility Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
