About the position: This position will be assigned to the Youth Center (ages 5-12 years old) at Travis Air Force Base, CA. This position is temporary NTE 6 Months from date of appointment. This position is guaranteed 40 hours per week. Duties

Under the direct supervision of the Youth Activities Director, assists with the development of seasonal youth sports programs in accordance with AF, Command and local directives. Provides one or more team sports quarterly that are responsive to all the participants' skill and ability levels. Makes beginning instruction available for sports requiring skills to include basketball, flag football, soccer, baseball, and volleyball. Responsible for the number of youth participation in the sports out of our potential target market increases or remains the same. Achieves AF/AMC financial goals. Responsible for the care and maintenance of Youth Center equipment, supplies, and sports facilities and fields. Coordinates with various staff agencies to utilize base facilities, transportation, and equipment in support of youth sports programs. Inventories equipment and supplies. Identifies any facility or Activities Director with inputs for budget and prepares the appropriate documents for procurement and monitors status of orders. Develops a budget for each major sport, keeping in mind that all sports programs must be self-supporting. Provides direction to seasonal employees, contract officials, volunteers and other personnel engaged in youth sports programs. Ensures that volunteers receive as part of their orientation, training goals, policies, emergency procedures, fire safety, acceptable guidance techniques as well as child abuse detection and reporting procedures. Train all volunteer coaches prior to their assuming responsibility for coaching youth. Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
  • This position requires satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks in accordance with Air Force and DoD policy, and a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.
  • This position has physical lifting requirement which requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical.
  • This position requires the incumbent to be able to obtain, maintain, and provide evidence of current immunizations this includes annual influenza vaccinations and be free of all communicable diseases.

Qualifications

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience: Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in the seasonal youth sports programs. Experience preferred in the following areas: basketball, flag football, soccer, baseball, and volleyball. Must have knowledge of basic program plans, operating procedures, and rules and regulations exist for the Youth Sports Programs. Knowledge of the budget process. May substitute equivalent education for required experience. Must have ability to read, write and speak English. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a high degree of tact and diplomacy. Ability to skill to obtain and perform first aid and CPR. Must be able to lift 40lbs or more and stand for long periods of time. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
