About the Position: The Alaska District is seeking to fill an Administrative Officer position located in the Executive Office. An ideal candidate will have strong experience in administrative work or a background in protocol. Possess an in depth knowledge of admin work and military protocol, to include excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills, detail-oriented, a passion for helping others, and exceptional customer service skills, experience working with Microsoft.

Duties

Responsible for the implementation and management of administrative activities for the Executive Office. Establishes internal control procedures pertaining to correspondence, reports, messages, suspense files, supplies, memoranda, records management, publications and forms control. Assists the District Military Personnel Administrator and, as such, is the focal point for military manpower/personnel actions and their related activities. Plans and arranges for the maintenance and preparation of information needed for budget reports. Assists in the coordination of VIP visits requiring extensive Alaska travel coordination and arrangements.

  • This is a designated Key position.
  • Incumbent may be required to obtain and maintain a Secret T3 security clearance.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing administrative support functions for an office, utilizing a Government Credit Card to purchase goods, creating travel orders and using an automated system for the preparation of travel coordination, and assisting with protocol requirements for higher ranking echelon and/or staff visitors. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as Business Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementCustomer ServiceTechnical CompetenceWriting Time in Grade Requirement GS-9: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
