This position is located in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), at the Northern Arizona VA Health Care System (NA V ARCS) located in Prescott, AZ. This position is part of Maintenance and Operation Section of Facilities Management Service. The primary purpose of the Maintenance Supervisor is to perform journeyman Pipefitter and Plumber work.

Duties

Duties to include, but not limited to: The journeyman Pipefitter and Plumber performs alterations, construction, repairs, and modification of high temperature water and high-pressure piping systems such as hydraulic, nitrogen, oxygen, steam-heating, and steam-generating systems, utility, supply, and disposal systems, fixtures, fittings, and equipment such as sewage, water, gas, and oil lines, compressed air, vacuum, and acid systems, water closets, water heaters, hydrants, valves, and pumps. Performs other related duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 07:00AM - 03:30PM Position Description Title/PD#: Pipefitter (Hiring Fair)/PD10378A Physical Requirements: The incumbent is required to walk, stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, crawl, and work in uncomfortable positions and to pull, reach over and lift supplies and/or equipment weighing up to 75 pounds. The incumbent must work from ladders, scaffolds, platforms and in hard to reach places. Working Conditions: Work may be either inside or outside, in areas of medium to excessive heats, cold, humidity, and dampness. Areas may have intermittent noise, fumes, dust, grease dirt and/or oils with exposure to electrical wiring and energy and rotating equipment. Areas may be slippery and/or have uneven surfaces and may be located in equipment rooms, tunnels, crawlspaces, penthouses, scaffolding and/or in tight areas such as manholes and equipment closets. Some work is conducted inside in patient care areas with potential for exposure to infectious diseases.

Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
