You will serve as the OPERATIONS MANAGER in the LIFTING AND HANDLING DEPARTMENT of TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY, BANGOR.

Duties

You will serve as the Lifting and Handling Director for Weight Handling Equipment (WHE) procurement or major modification projects including final review and approval of user specifications. You will review and evaluate WHE, Material Handling Equipment (MHE), and rigging accidents for underlying causes and trends, and determine corrective actions. You will perform financial planning, programming, budgeting, and execution for the Lifting and Handling Department. You will monitor department wide training ensuring effectiveness and compliance with all mandatory regulations. You will monitor all aspects of safety in the department and ensure prompt corrective actions taken, attend critiques, and address identified deficiencies. You will analyze workload projections and requirements, including vessel schedules, maintenance reports, modernization projections, workforce maturity issues, skill mix and required qualifications. You will assess readiness and availability of information, energy, raw material, human and physical resources necessary to carry out the long-term production mission. You will monitor labor charges, time and effectiveness of repairs, technical integrity of work produced, and overall fleet support and feedback to assure readiness and cost-effective operations. You will conduct studies, investigate and analyze problems, and initiate action for solutions.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Work is performed primarily in an office setting and occasionally on the waterfront and may require walking, stooping, bending, and carrying of light objects.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: planning and coordinating a weight handling equipment program to monitor maintenance, repair, inspection, and certification of equipment to support the lifecycle maintenance of ships.
