This position is located at Oconaluftee Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center in Cherokee Swain, NC. Incumbent serves as an assistant Training Instructor in the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program. Duties

Serves as Assistant CNA Training Instructor, providing instruction in areas such as: safe working conditions; role of the nursing assistant; medical terminology; infection control methods; personal care of patient; human anatomy and physiology. As an instructor, follows the required course material outlined in the national Job Corps curriculum. Provides instruction, tutors, directs, guides, monitors, and supervises students. Under subject matter expert guidance, provides input in the revision of course materials. Determines the appropriate use of supplemental material and teaching aids as available and applicable to the needs of the students. Maintains daily attendance records. Maintains and manages records, written reports, completion of forms and evaluations. Monitors progress of students to ensure that completion of studies for applicable graduation levels are met.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service or exempt.
  • Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
  • Successful completion of one-year probationary period, unless previously served.
  • Per Public Law 104-134 all Federal employees are required to have federal payments made by direct deposit to their financial institution.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.

Provide course descriptions as necessary. Specialized Experience Requirement: For the GS-07: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as most of the following: assisting with classroom and/or off-site instruction to students following required course material outlined in established curriculum; knowledge or experience to explain nursing care and related human anatomy or healthcare standards; compiling and maintaining records utilizing computer databases and software; interpersonal skills to counsel, motivate, guide and assist students in vocational and educational goal setting. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
