Duties
Plans and directs a wide range of land and water outdoor recreation activities and services which constitute a multi-seasonal program which exceeds a typical and conventional outdoor recreation program not only in terms of size of the outdoor area involved and of the community served, but because of such combination of program elements.
Program and facility elements including geographically dispersed areas in multiple locations over a radius of more than 50 miles.
Areas include the presence of strong conservation and environmental protection coordination responsibilities involving such tasks as the development of recreational plans for the rational use of fish and wildlife habitats for recreational purposes.
Manages programs through subordinate supervisors which include FAMCAMP recreational vehicle (RV) camp and picnic area, Farish Recreation, Cadet Outdoor Recreation, Outdoor Adventure Program, Equestrian Center, RV storage and impound lots.
Implements directives and formulates policies and procedures and programs to ensure high standards of recreation equipment support and associated retail services.
Develops long-range plans and programs including budget and facility requirements, equipment and resale operations.
Develops and manages NAF and APF budgets for all outdoor recreation programs.
Evaluates all programs to explore new education methods and opportunities to enhance the program.
Within overall plans developed by higher levels, selects service to be offered in addition to requires basic programs.
Ensures only authorized patrons have maximum usage of Farish Recreation area.
Works with Colorado Division of Wildlife and Security Forces in enforcement of State and Academy hunting, fishing, safety, sanitary and fire prevention rules and regulations at Farish located in Pike National Forest.
Participates in the development of long range plans for maintenance of the facilities and ensures proper maintenance of all outdoor recreation equipment and facilities.
Oversees and manages lodging operations at Farish to include housekeeping, maintenance, room inspections, customer service, check-in/out and reservations.
Serves as the primary POC to contracted vendors.
Develops and conducts training programs, conferences, forums, and meetings for improvement of programs.
Plans, develops, coordinates, promotes, and conducts diverse outdoor recreation programs and activities.
Develops and implements safety orientation programs and risk management plans.
Performs supervisory personnel management duties to include planning and assigning work, approving leave, grading performance, identifying training needs, interviewing and selecting candidates, etc.
Maintains appropriate financial records to accurately analyze operations and determine financial solvency.
Plans and directs operations to ensure overall solid financial condition.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:
Must have college level training or the equivalent plus at least two years' experience in planning, implementing and evaluation outdoor recreation activities.
Knowledge must include working experience in the concepts, principles, and techniques of a broad range of recreation programs.
Experience must include supervisory and management responsibilities in an outdoor recreation or similar services industry.
Strong organization and planning skills required.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
Ability to motivate, trains, and work effectively with subordinates.
Requires knowledge of a wide variety of outdoor equipment and its functional use and skill in performing general maintenance and repairs to recreational equipment.
Requires lifting up to 50 lb. Subject to satisfactory completion of a physical.
Subject to satisfactory completion of a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
Must possess a valid state driver's license and the ability to safely operate a passenger van.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
