THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This Air National Guard position is for a ORDNANCE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC (TITLE 32), Position Description Number NGD2575000 and is part of the TN 118th WING, Air National Guard. This vacancy is covered by Association of Civilian Technicians (ACT), Chapter 116 (Music City Chapter).

Duties

As an ORDNANCE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC, WG-6641-10 (TITLE 32) you will, assembles/disassemble, adjust configuration, performs maintenance/test & repair, handles and transports ammunition, rockets, unguided and guided weapons and countermeasures, demolition material, and other types of conventional ordnance such as 40MM, Cluster Bomb Units (CBU), Guided Bomb Units (GBU), general purpose bombs, aircraft canon ammunition, missile systems, decoys, countermeasures to include LUU series flares and dispensers for loading on aircraft based on Unit Committed Munitions List (UCML) and Wings training requirements. Manage allocations, stock levels, inventories, requisitions, and disposition of munitions. Validates, maintains, and provides security of accountable/auditable records. Coordinate with munitions elements, weapons expediter, flight-line expediter, maintenance activities, and base support agencies to ensure effective flow of information, scheduling, and use of available resources. Reports statuses for the Nuclear Certified Equipment Program.

Requirements

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain appropriate security clearance.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license (to get a gov cert for munitions transport)
  • Preplacement Medical Requirements: Selectee will be required to undergo medical testing, at the expense of the government, prior to beginning employment. Medical tests are used to determine fitness and eligibility for employment.
  • Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate Tricare Reserve Select eligibility.

Qualifications

Military Grades: E-2 through E-5 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience or training which has provided the candidate with the knowledge and application of mechanical and electrical principles and the skill to perform intricate repair and adjustment of hydraulic and pneumatic components and devices. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 24 months experience or 1 year at the next lower-level experience or training in repairing, rebuilding, modifying, and testing a variety of major subassemblies. Experience in diagnosing malfunctions and determining repair in major components consisting of numerous assemblies, interrelated electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic assemblies, and components. Experience in the use of precision measurement equipment. Experience interpreting and applying a variety of technical manuals and similar published materials.
