Duties

Routes incoming correspondence, reports and memoranda to appropriate personnel. Arranges documents according to project and classification code, and files in chronological and numerical order. Expands overcrowded filing areas and determines when new files should be established. Retrieves documents per requests. Interprets Reclamation instructions, regulations, manuals, general records schedules. disposition schedules, and other regulatory material governing records management in the performance of duties. Reviews records in the centralized and decentralized files. Processes all mail to include USPS and Fed Ex.

Qualifications

In order to be rated as qualified for this position, the HR Office must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - this information must be clearly supported in the resume. To qualify at the GS-05, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-04 level in federal service. Examples of experience include, working in a mail room environment performing mail and file clerk duties such as classifying, assembling, or sorting; conducting searches for reference materials; routing records or files; serving as an initial point of contact or assisting on clerical matters; performing office automation work; using automation equipment and/or software to draft correspondence, duplicate documents, reports, graphics, and other forms or documents; experience working as a receptionist answering telephone calls and greeting visitors. You could otherwise qualify on the basis of Education having completed four years of academic study above the high school level OR a combination of successfully completed education and experience. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including any selective placement factors if applicable, by 11/02/2023.

Education

This vacancy announcement allows substituting education for experience.
