This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Serve as Engineering Technician performing non-professional technical work in areas of design, evaluation, construction, inspection, and work order process of Fort Lee facilities systems, equipment, and materials.
Duties
Develop automated queries to assimilate data required by internal and external customers.
Conduct system inquiries and day-to-day customer inquiries to determine effectiveness of the automated system providing status and progress.
Ascertain that plan is complete, compatible with existing construction and clearly conveys the design intent to the contractor.
Verify specifications are correct and meet the requirements of all applicable codes and regulations.
Perform on-site inspection of construction projects involving the electrical, mechanical, and structural aspects of the medical center.
Monitor the preventive maintenance program to ensure that all elements of the utilities management program are developed to comply with the industry standards and are adequately executed and documented.

- The work may require occasional physical exertion, such as: long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, rocky, or slippery surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, climbing, or similar activities.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
- Work involves regular and recurring exposure to moderate risks and discomforts, such as: dust, strong odors, or fumes from fuels, chemicals, or engine exhaust; high levels of noise and vibration, grease, electrical hazards; or whether conditions.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience which includes experience planning and/or programming repairs and maintenance in areas such as mechanical, electrical, grounds maintenance, plumbing and utilizing various automated/work order systems such as Excel, Access, Word, GFEBS. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
