In this position, you will serve as an Appeals Analyst supporting the Federal Emergency Management Agency Region 5, Recovery Division, Public Assistance Branch by reviewing and analyzing Public Assistance appeals and drafting appeal responses.

Qualifications

All qualifications and eligibility requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. To qualify for this position at the IC-11 level (starting salary $76,990), you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the IC-09 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the Federal or Private Sector and must demonstrate all of the following:  1. Conducting research of applicable statutes, regulations and policies related to the subject matter of the appeal,2. Collaborating with leadership to analyze facts and issues related to the Public Assistance program to resolve matters in dispute; and,3. Drafting effective and thorough recommendations, memos and analyses to resolve matters in dispute. OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. OR Combination of education and experience  To qualify for this position at the IC-12 level (starting salary $92,279), you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the IC-11 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the Federal or Private Sector and must demonstrate all of the following:  1. Independently researching and interpreting applicable statutes, regulations and policies related to the subject matter of the appeal,2. Analyzing facts and issues related to the Public Assistance program to resolve matters in dispute, with minimal supervision; and,3. Drafting written analysis of findings that communicate facts and determinations for leadership review.
