Duties
Develops and disseminates policy/guidance for education programs to State Directors, Field Office managers, and education coordinators, as well as educational program materials.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of professional standards, issues, and training opportunities in the field of education, and ensures that the BLM remains current on innovations and best practices.
Maintains a working knowledge of natural, cultural, and recreational resources program issues and activities on BLM public lands.
Meets with a variety of national groups and organizations for the development and enhancement of educational programs and materials and to form national partnerships that support agency priorities.
Participates in planning, coordination, and implementation of special events and programs.

Qualifications

For GS-11: You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: execution of local outreach and partnership approaches to natural and cultural resource projects; research and development of educational programs; production of diverse written materials of professional quality.
For GS-12: You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: development of education policies, strategic plans, and procedures; execution of state or regional level outreach and partnership approaches to natural and cultural resource projects; research and development of educational programs; production of diverse written materials of professional quality.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education
This position has a positive education requirement which requires that you have a degree that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position.
OR
A combination of education and experience--course work must be equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above.
