OIG is organized into seven operational units: the Immediate Office of the Inspector General, Office of the Counselor, Office of Audits and Evaluations, Office of Healthcare Inspections, Office of Investigations, Office of Management and Administration, and Office of Special Reviews. In addition to the Washington, DC, headquarters, OIG has offices located in more than 60 locations throughout the country.

As an Auditor(Performance), you will:
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized experience for the GS-13 is defined as one year of experience at the GS-12 level, or equivalent that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as:
-Communicating issues, justifying conclusions reached, and recommending courses of actions in a performance audit environment;
AND
-Performing formal and informal briefings and presentations of a technical nature (such as: explaining if a project complied with standards and why) to high-level management defending a position or to gain support from the audience.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12level for 52 weeks.
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a nontemporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
Education
To be qualified for this position, you must meet the basic educational and/or work experience requirements for professional auditing positions in the federal government. For this position these minimum requirements include:
Education Requirements: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a degree in auditing; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting.
OR
Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:
A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; OR
Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours.
