This position is located in the Load Forecasting and Analysis (KSL) organization of Customer Support Services (KS), Chief Operating Officer (K), Bonneville Power Administration (BPA). The purpose of this position is to serve as a senior level expert mathematical statistician performing scientific work that involves designing, developing, and adapting mathematical/statistical methods and techniques to processes in carrying out short-term load analysis and forecasting activities.

  • In the event of an emergency they would be called up immediately as a part of the Security and Continuity of Operations plans for on-going daily operations of the federal system.

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT: A. Degree: that included 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, of which at least 12 semester hours were in mathematics and 6 semester hours were in statistics. or B. Combination of education and experience -- at least 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, including at least 12 hours in mathematics and 6 hours in statistics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Experience 1) designing, developing, creating or adapting mathematical methods and techniques in statistical processes to carry out short term, mid-term or long term demand analyses and forecasts; AND 2) writing statistical computer programs/algorithms to perform computer simulations. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience
