This position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), at the George E. Wahlen VA medical Center in the the Radiology Department. The primary purpose of the Program Support Assistant (PSA) involves performing a variety of tasks and clerical duties in the Radiology Reading Room. The PSA serves as the Reading Room receptionist and assists the clinic with internal Diagnostic Imaging Services.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Serves as a resource person in planning, reviewing, or revising policies and procedures that impact service performance.
Performs data collection, planning, recommends and participates in developing strategies for implementing planning for major projects involving Radiology Service initiatives.
Evaluates, processes, or makes recommendations for effective organization changes.
Performs organizational analysis and prepares data briefing documents reflecting findings and justification for specific changes.
Daily, maintains correspondence files, forms, manuals and VAHCS memoranda, keeping them up to date.
Maintains a comprehensive filing system, both current and historical, which allows for ease of access to necessary forms and documentation.
Creates/maintains Secretary's Desk Manual with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the various complex programs supported by this organization.
Provides Guidance and relevant forms to medical staff for patient qualification to various programs and coordination of care.
Coordinates requests with other Services, VA Medical Centers and facilities nation-wide.
Provide administrative support for Radiology Service including preparation of travel authorizations and vouchers, assessing office supply and equipment needs, preparing requisitions and necessary tracking status of supply and equipment orders.
Performs duties related to the receipt, scanning, downloading, importing of Images and quality reviews for Images for VA patients.
Tracks Imaging consults to verify all Image requests have been received and/or processed.
Ensures that all necessary health/administrative information is received and integrated into Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS).
Burns Radiology studies to CD/DVD on media writer for patients and referring doctors, as needed.
Ensure all files are destroyed or filed in accordance with the VA directives.
Imaging software to integrate patient images into the Radiology PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication Systems).
Serves as a resource person in planning, reviewing, or revising policies and procedures that impact service performance.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00am to 4:30pm

GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: providing daily program and administrative support within the service by gathering documents, reports, statistics, information, and data to create concise reports for use by supervisors. Incumbent is required to use independent judgement and analytical reasoning in composing letters, routine forms, form letters and guides to service offices, beneficiaries and dependents. Performs data collection and planning and recommends and participates in developing strategies for implementing planning for major projects involving Radiology Service initiatives. Knowledge of all aspects of Radiology Service are required to ensure effective care within the service through incumbent's customer service responses. Provides Guidance and relevant forms to medical staff for patient qualification to various programs and coordination of care. Coordinates requests with other Services, VA Medical Centers and facilities nation-wide.
There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 level.
