About the Position: The Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) aims to conduct biomedical research that is responsive to Department of Defense and US Army requirements and delivers lifesaving products including knowledge, technology and medical material that sustain the combat effectiveness of the Warfighter.

Duties

Serve as Equipment Custodian/Hand Receipt Holder. Provide and implement Army concepts, objectives, policies, and principles in the area of Administrative Support. Facilitate in-processing and out-processing of personnel and maintain the accountability spreadsheet required for Command taskers. Review DTS authorizations and vouchers. Assist with conference packets and any other travel-related requests. Advise travelers, reviewing and approving officials, and resolve travel voucher discrepancies. Assist with ordering supplies and equipment through Logistics. Create Capability Request Requirement (CAPR) packets for IMD approval and enter orders into the Centralized Equipment Requirements Program (CERP). Maintain all hand receipt documents for Branch, sign and receive incoming equipment, turn in equipment, and work closely with the WRAIR Equipment Custodian Managers in Logistics.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is subject to a two year probationary period unless you have previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain eligibility for a Secret security clearance.

Qualifications

WRAIR is participating in an alternative personnel system knows as the Personnel Demonstration Project (PDP). The DJ-03 pay band is equivalent to the GS-11 Step 01 to GS-12 Step 10 level. In keeping with the Demonstration pay fixing policies, employees earning a salary that falls within the pay band equivalent, may not receive an immediate pay increase (promotion) if appointed to this position. Future pay increases within the pay band will be accomplished through the pay for performance management system. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below: Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in electrical or electronic engineering, mathematics, physics, public utilities, statistics, computer science, telecommunications management, information systems management, business administration, industrial management, or other fields related to the position to be filled. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
