About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the 7th Signal Command, G3 section, Current Ops Command Center located at Fort Meade.
Duties
Responsible for the monitoring, event tracking, analysis and reporting of all activities on the CONUS portion of the DoD Information Network - Army (DoDIN-A).
Provide real time input into the operational picture of the 7th Signal Command (Theater) CONUS area of responsibility (AOR).
Serve as a subject matter expert in the areas of Operations Center functions and keeps superiors within the Command informed of operational status including assessments of a wide range of technical and operational information issues.
Apply extensive professional knowledge of Information Technology policy, procedure, and standards.
Apply knowledge of automation systems, telecommunications, and networking disciplines to staff the management and implementation of assigned programs.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
- This position is designated Special-Sensitive therefore the employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance based on an SSBI background investigation with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmental Information (SCI).
- Position requires rotating shift work; nights, weekends and holidays as the 7th Signal Command Operations Center is a 24 x 7 operation.
- TDY is required up to 10% of the time.
- Duties require access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and/or Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIF).

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe one year specialized experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience would be demonstrated by securing and defending the DoD Information Network - Army, providing situational awareness, and providing analysis and situational awareness of reportable issues to supervisors in accordance with (IAW) established reporting procedures; reviewing network operations reports, incident reports, and task orders to provide mission impact, maintain situational awareness, assign/adjust priorities, and direct network operations workflow; identifying and resolving technical aspects of difficult and complex information systems infrastructure and automated information systems with respect to problems in synchronization, interface to other systems and compatibility with other systems; and analyzing principles and methods to identify and define technical requirements applied to the development, implementation, management, and support of systems and networks and recommend resolution of complex issues.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
